Seven applicants applied to join MarRI-UK via the scheme. and following a panel review, three companies have been accepted to be our first cohort of Micro-Company members. These companies are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncl-marine.com\/\">Newcastle Marine Services<\/a>: a Newcastle based consultancy specialising in ships, vessels, and offshore structures. The company operate as an outsourced engineering department for owners, operators, and the repairs &amp; construction industries.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/oasismarine.co.uk\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/oasismarine.co.uk\/\">Oasis Marine Power<\/a>: a marine engineering company seeking to develop offshore charging and green refuelling solutions to support the maritime transition to zero emission propulsion.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.walkersubsea.com\/\">Walker Subsea<\/a>: specialising in marine and subsea engineering services. The work is divided into two categories: 1) provision of engineering services for marine &amp; offshore renewable energy projects and 2) carrying out R&amp;D activities using Automotive Technologies adapted to the subsea environment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>They will join MarRI-UK from 1<sup>st<\/sup> April 2024, and be involved in MarRI-UK activities in the first two years through in-kind contribution, such as attending events\/workshops on behalf of MarRI-UK, organise events for MarRI-UK, which are to be agreed with each company separately. We would like to congratulate them for becoming our latest MarRI-UK members, and we look forward to working with them over the next few years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Simon Reid, Director of MarRI-UK \u2013 \u201cMarRI-UK\u2019s members are the driving force for our research and innovation in the UK maritime sector. I was proud to launch the Micro-Company access scheme earlier this year to remove barriers to entry and encourage smaller organisations into our membership community. I am delighted to welcome, following a competitive process, Newcastle Marine Services, Oasis Marine Power and Walker Subsea Engineering as our first cohort of Micro-Company Members and I look forward to collaborating with them all on our important mission, together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vahid Walker, Technical Director of Walker Subsea \u2013 \u201cWalker Subsea Engineering is a micro-company, specialising in cross-sectoral innovation. Located at the former Swan Hunters Shipyard, we develop game-changing technology and engineering solutions for the global offshore construction industry. This includes design and build of the novel Subsea A-Flux\u00ae electrical machine in partnership with ORE Catapult. We are delighted to join MarRI-UK as members through the micro-company access scheme. Working with its extensive network, we aim to forge new partnerships and leverage its combined expertise to solve the complex challenges of maritime electrified propulsion systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aarvind Raid, Design Engineer at Newcastle Marine Services &#8211; &#8220;\u201cWe are thrilled to embark on this exciting journey with MarRI-UK, a pioneering alliance driving innovation and sustainability in the maritime industry\u201d&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>George Smith, Managing Director of Oasis Marine &#8211; &#8220;We are proud to be joining MarRI-UK, especially after the recent completion of our own MarRI-UK funded project developing an offshore charging solution,\u00a0the Oasis Power Buoy,\u00a0to enable the transition to electric and hybrid wind farm maintenance vessels.
