Unleashing the Potential of Maritime Research and Innovation through Collaboration

The MarRI-UK event at the London International Shipping Week 2023 was successfully completed with two hours fully packed agenda.

The event highlighted ‘the UK’s Academia Capacity and Capability for Shipbuilding” for the National Shipbuilding Office (NSO). Rod Paterson, Deputy Director of National Shipbuilding Office, gave a speech about the importance of Academia in delivering the refreshed National Shipbuilding Strategy. An overview of the findings of the study was presented by Prof. Stephen Turnock from University of Southampton.

DfT funded projects have produced a huge amount of impacts not only on the triggering of private investment on technology and innovation, but also on commercial viability. Five case studies were presented at the event from the project coordinators.
