Description:

The research covers three areas:
Sensor and Data, Collision Avoidance, and Testing and Demonstration. The Sensor and Data area starts with an impact assessment of multiple input data to inform the development of a Maritime Situational Awareness (MSA) model. This model is then tested through simulations, digital twins, and real-world environments. In the area of collision avoidance, realistic ship encounter scenarios are extracted to develop autonomous navigation decision-making systems. This process is supported by GPU-accelerated front-end visualization and back-end computing. Testing and Demonstration refines the data-driven parameters of the autonomous decision-making system and establishes a comprehensive verification and evaluation framework.
