Description:

The University of Plymouth advances research in marine autonomous systems. Our expertise includes the design and development of autonomous marine vehicles like AUVs and ASVs for environmental monitoring and data collection. Through our work we integrate advanced sensors for comprehensive environmental data acquisition, develop sophisticated algorithms for autonomous navigation and control, and deploy systems for large-scale marine data collection. Our researchers engage in collaborations with academic institutions, industry, and government bodies, supporting a range of applications from ecosystem monitoring to oceanographic research. Our extensive fleet, the Marine Station Deployment Facility, and access to Plymouth Smart Sound combine to form a distinctive marine autonomy ecosystem. This ecosystem, along with our expertise, is frequently utilised by our partners, including our long-standing collaboration with the Royal Navy.
