Floating Offshore Wind

Description:

Supported by vital geographical and physical assets, Plymouth is in a unique position with a full ecosystem underpinning all aspects of deployment of new and novel maritime technology. We offer extensive support for floating offshore wind development, particularly in the Celtic Sea. Through our COAST Laboratory and cutting-edge Maritime Simulation Lab, we provide vital research and testing for turbine designs, mooring systems, and hydrodynamic performance. We also integrate advanced technologies like AI and marine autonomous systems for site selection and environmental assessments. By fostering collaborations with industry and advancing cyber resilience, the University is instrumental in optimising, de-risking, and decarbonising floating offshore wind operations.
