This scope addresses the technical challenges of integrating future port infrastructures with advanced zero-emission marine powertrains, essential for the maritime industry’s shift towards decarbonisation. At UCL, we develop innovative hardware and software systems to enable smart integration of sustainable propulsion technologies with ports, focusing on energy efficiency, refuelling and recharging infrastructure, and intelligent strategies for vessels and port operations. Our work supports the transition to low-emission maritime solutions, contributing to global efforts to reduce emissions in the sector.
