Academic Membership
Fee is not required for academic members. Their tier level will be determined by MarRI-UK based on the university’s track record on existing programmes and accomplishment in the maritime sector as set out below:
Tier 1 membership
Tier 1 members have a seat on the Strategy Board. To be a Tier 1 member, universities must have a record of accomplishment on existing programmes and graduates at Undergraduate AND Postgraduate taught (Master), AND Postgraduate research, AND securing funding in the maritime sector within the scope of MarRI-UK. Alongside the industry members, the university members will steer MarRI-UK research agenda and setting MarRI-UK direction.
Tier 2 membership
Tier 2 members will be represented on the Strategy Board. To be a Tier 2 member, universities must have a record of accomplishment on existing programmes, and graduates at Undergraduate OR Postgraduate taught (master) OR Postgraduate research in the maritime sector. Alongside the industry members, they will contribute to the identification of MarRI-UK research agenda and have influence to setting MarRI-UK direction.
In the interim period, there will be no Tier 3. When fully established, Tier 1 and Tier 2 will be expected to contribute a commitment to a new professorial appointment to support MarRI-UK.
