MarRI-UK Micro-Company Membership Access Scheme (2026 Round)

Following a successful first round, MarRI-UK is once again inviting maritime micro-companies to join our community through the Micro-Company Membership Access Scheme.

We know that small companies often face financial challenges, but also recognise that financial barriers shouldn’t limit innovation. Because of this, this scheme allows micro-maritime companies to join our collaborative community via an “in-kind” contribution basis.

While our standard Tier 3 membership fee stands at £1000 per year, micro companies opting for the in-kind approach could fulfil this commitment through tangible contributions. This could include organising events with the core team or participating in external workshops on behalf of MarRI-UK to offer valuable insights to research communities.

The in-kind contribution is applicable for the first two years. Following this period, the membership fee will transition to a cash payment unless a special case is considered.

Who can apply?

To be eligible, your company must be active in maritime research and innovation and meet any two of these criteria:

  • a turnover of £1,000,000 or less
  • £500,000 or less on its balance sheet
  • 10 employees or less

How to join

The deadline to apply for the 2026 round is 6th Mar 2026. Three companies will be selected to join through the 2026 round, and membership for successful applicants will commence on 1st April 2026.

Should your company meet these criteria and you wish to join MarRI-UK through the scheme, we invite you to fill out the application form, and send your application to marri-uk-dmem@strath.ac.uk and use the subject line: Micro-Membership Application – [Company Name]. Please feel free to ask questions if there is any.
