This week saw major maritime innovations, including Rolls-Royce’s successful test of the world’s first pure methanol marine engine and HD KSOE’s SMR-powered containership design approval. In the UK, the largest shore power facility was installed on the Thames, and ABB will power seven new all-electric ferries. Offshore wind progress continued despite zero bids in a Dutch tender, while India secured $7 bn port investments. COSCO announced a $1.75 bn shipbuilding spree, and IMO climate negotiations stalled. Clean fuel, digitalisation, and green shipping corridors remain central themes shaping the sector’s decarbonisation and energy transition efforts.
