Welcome to the MarRI-UK weekly roundup!

Last week’s maritime outlook is shaped by evolving security risks, accelerating decarbonisation efforts, and continued investment in UK capability. Ongoing uncertainty in the Strait of Hormuz is sustaining pressure on global shipping operations and insurance markets despite a ceasefire. At the same time, the UK is reinforcing its leadership in maritime autonomy and offshore energy, while defence developments – including advances by the Royal Navy –highlight growing adoption of uncrewed technologies. Innovation remains central, with initiatives such as the Maritime Transport Conference underscoring cross-sector collaboration on resilience, sustainability, and digital transformation.
