Background
Over the past six months, the MarRI-UK team has been developing the UK Maritime Technology Roadmap. Through extensive engagement with the UK maritime sector, including 7 workshops with 200+ attendees from 100+ organisations across industry, academia and government, we explored 211 technology systems. Ultimately, 145 were shortlisted and 65 were selected to form the basis of the roadmap.
While the national Roadmap sets our long-term ambitions, this Catalogue provides the concrete engineering substance. It details 65 critical technology systems split across three integrated domains:
- Port & Infrastructure: Transforming ports into net-zero, cyber-secure, and autonomous logistics hubs.
- Ship System & Technology: Driving the decarbonisation and digital enablement of the fleet.
- Shipyard Design & Build: Pioneering sustainable operations, digital design, and advanced manufacturing.
