Welcome to the MarRI-UK weekly roundup!
This week’s maritime landscape is shaped by escalating tensions in the Middle East, with conflict involving Iran and disruption around the Strait of Hormuz sending shockwaves through global shipping and energy markets. Thousands of vessels have been affected, freight rates have surged and oil and LNG supply chains face renewed uncertainty, highlighting the vulnerability of key maritime trade routes. Amid these pressures, the UK is also advancing maritime decarbonisation, announcing £271 million in funding to accelerate clean shipping technologies and support innovation and coastal communities.
