Welcome to the MarRI-UK weekly roundup!

Last week’s maritime news highlighted significant progress across UK defence, offshore wind, clean energy, and maritime innovation. Offshore wind continued to expand through new projects, grid infrastructure, manufacturing, and skills investment across the UK and internationally. Naval modernisation gathered pace with advances in hybrid fleets, autonomous systems, additive manufacturing, and new defence programmes. Decarbonisation remained a priority, supported by progress in alternative fuels, carbon capture, offshore renewables, and small modular reactor technologies. Digitalisation advanced through AI, subsea robotics, and autonomous operations, while geopolitical tensions and disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz reinforced the importance of resilient maritime supply chains, energy security, and operational resilience.
