Welcome to the MarRI-UK weekly roundup!
Last week, UK maritime activity highlighted four critical themes: offshore-wind growth and supply-chain development, with projects such as Inch Cape progressing and new investment supporting jobs and infrastructure; decarbonisation, as the UK ETS treatment of sustainable marine fuels becomes increasingly important; digitalisation and cybersecurity, with AI, autonomy and growing cyber threats creating both opportunities and risks; and defence and maritime resilience, including evolving Royal Navy minehunting capabilities. Globally, geopolitical disruption remains a major uncertainty, with Red Sea and Black Sea insecurity affecting shipping, insurance and trade routes. Overall, investment is accelerating, but security, regulation, skills and technology readiness remain critical.
