Welcome to the MarRI-UK weekly roundup!
Last week, UK maritime innovation continued to gather momentum, with Scotland backing plans for a floating offshore wind foundation manufacturing facility at Ardersier and the keel laid for the first Fleet Solid Support ship at Appledore. Digitalisation and decarbonisation also featured strongly, with 90POE’s OpenOcean STUDIO gaining independent certification across major maritime emissions frameworks. Globally, progress continued on the IMO Net-Zero Framework, while offshore wind developments across Europe and Asia highlighted growing investment in renewable energy infrastructure. Meanwhile, advances in maritime nuclear energy, smart shipping and next-generation naval vessels continued to shape the sector.
