MarRI-UK is leading the development of the UK Maritime Research and Technology roadmap.
The maritime sector is undergoing a profound transformation driven by environmental imperatives, technological disruption, and geopolitical shifts. The UK as an island nation had a proud maritime heritage and strong international reputation for leadership in the maritime sector. However, as a large and diverse sector there isn’t a combined roadmap for how he UK can maintain a strategic advantage. Other sectors like aerospace and automotive have defined technology roadmaps used to forge collaboration and set a clear demand signal, maritime needs to do the same.
A national Maritime Research and Technology roadmap will enable:
- Unify and champion the maritime sector by connecting stakeholders across the golden triangle of government industry and academia.
- Enable funding opportunities by creating a clear and defined demand signal to government.
- Position the UK maritime sector for the future by mapping the long term over the horizon research and innovation pipelines.
