Welcome to the MarRI-UK weekly roundup!
Last week, two notable themes emerged across the maritime and energy sectors. First, maritime nuclear continued to gain momentum, with growing discussion around nuclear-powered ships, floating nuclear power plants, and the role of small modular reactors (SMRs) in supporting future shipping and offshore energy needs. Several nuclear projects worldwide also advanced through regulatory, technology, and deployment milestones. Second, offshore energy systems continued to expand, with major developments in offshore wind, grid interconnections, energy storage, and offshore infrastructure. Together, these trends point towards a future in which shipping, power generation, and offshore energy networks become increasingly integrated to support decarbonisation, energy security, and industrial competitiveness.
