UK Maritime Political Update

  • (14/02) DSIT announced that the AI Safety Institute has been renamed the AI Security Institute.
  • (13/02) The PM delivered a written statement confirming that the responsibility for fire would move from the Home Office to the MHCLG.
  • (13/02) DfE announced that ‘the Government is slashing more red tape to ensure businesses and apprenticeship training providers are able to focus even more of their time on apprentices’.
  • (13/02) DESNZ announced the application window had opened for the Clean Industry Bonus.
  • (12/02) NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte hasstated that he expects members to increase defence spending to ‘north of 3%’ of GDP ‘rather sooner than later.
  • (11/02) The Education Secretary made a written statement to announce a ‘range of steps this government is taking to introduce the greater flexibility in our apprenticeships system that learn to break down to barriers opportunity and boost economic growth’.
  • (11/02) After all the buildup ahead of the AI Action Summit in Paris this week, it seemed to conclude rather uneventfully, as the UK joined the US in not signing the international agreement.Read more
